Described by Westword as “Denver’s newest rock royalty”, Rachel and The Kings, a rock band comprised of Rachel James, Steven Beck, Noah Matthews, Stefan Runstrom, and Ian Short, is sure to be a Live on the Terrace concert you don’t want to miss!
You’d think a band yet to celebrate its first birthday would be bickering over whose basement is best for practice sessions. At least that’s the visual a stereotypical inauguration tends to suggest. But there’s nothing conventional about Rachel & The Kings, and the dynamo-style start the band boasts is no exception. Consider: with less than two months of official togetherdom, Rachel & The Kings won Ford’s national “Gimme the Gig II” competition, earning huge accolades from legendary producer (and head judge) Don Was.
Can you even imagine how great they must be after a year together? Their live shows make fun feel justified, a sort of mature approach to having a rather rockin’ good time. Their songwriting finesse and musical artistry set the band on a playing field that’s really all their own. But what separates Rachel & The Kings the most from other bands is the real joy onstage they seem to experience themselves. It’s a relief to see the band is in on what you already know: that this is great stuff.
Plus, meet local representatives from Excelsior Youth Center/Canine Healers. The terrace opens at 6:00pm and music begins at 7:o0pm.
You won’t want to miss the Live on the Terrace food and drink specials either! Enjoy House-Smoked Spice-Rubbed Brisket Sliders with a Paulaner Bier, Blackened Fish Tacos with a Chinook Arta Margarita, or one of Chef Markus’ many other great options.
Can’t make it this Thursday? There’s always next week! We’ll be Live on the Terrace every Thursday through August 29 with original music by rising local and national performers.
