Join us as we welcome Folk singer / songwriter Andy Hackbarth to Live on the Terrace!
In an ever-growing industry of talented artists, Hackbarth distinguishes himself as a “triple-threat,” that is, one who is not just a striking vocalist, accomplished songwriter or gifted instrumentalist, but all three. Andy creates music bearing the stamp of the contemporary West by infusing his indie pop sensibilities with the American folk tradition.
Since returning from Nashville to his native Colorado, Andy has completed his highly anticipated acoustic indie experiment: Treadmill Horses (EP) which was released earlier this spring.
Treadmill Horses represents a landmark project. Not only does Andy Hackbarth join the choice few indie artists who preserve the folk ethic of acoustic instrumentation, but he also manages to create a cohesive album while weaving together seemingly disparate musical traditions such as 19th century Spanish Romanticism, jazz standards, the classical masters and contemporary indie rock.
According to Jon Solomon of Westword Music, “While he hasn’t totally abandoned the pop feel of [past albums] on his new seven-song EP, Treadmill Horses, the songwriting feels more mature and introspective. It’s as if he’s widened his scope somewhat, reaching deeper than just writing hooks and sprinkling a bit of jazz and country into the mix”.
Like a breath of rarefied mountain air, his musicianship heightens the senses, while his music, taking full advantage, evokes a longing that is simultaneously nostalgic and expectant. This is one week you won’t want to miss!
Plus, meet local representatives from Bonfils Blood Center.
